PORTAGE COUNTY — Julie Strenn, president and CEO of Opportunity Development Centers Inc. (ODC), has been recognized with the Diehard Advocate Award at the 2024 Wisconsin Self-Determination Conference.
The annual event, hosted by the Wisconsin Board for People with Developmental Disabilities, honors individuals who go above and beyond to improve the lives of those with disabilities.
Strenn, a veteran in long-term care with more than 25 years of experience, expressed her gratitude during the award presentation.
“Very few times I am at a loss of words,” Strenn said. “Tonight I was completely surprised and humbly honored to receive The Diehard Advocate Award. I feel thankful, grateful, and blessed.”
Her career includes roles in provider agencies, managed care organizations, and state and local government, including the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. Strenn has also served as a consultant for service providers, funding agencies, and multiple state governments, helping transform long-term care systems to emphasize community employment and living for people with disabilities.
Earlier this year, Strenn was appointed to the IRIS Advisory Committee, which oversees a self-directed state program supporting adults with disabilities and the elderly in making their own life decisions.
